Why do you want to volunteer?

True service gives even this: all traces of attachment to the fruit of her giving. For her giving has been already seen to be from the Father, and so the fruits are given to her.

The first thing we ask of you before completing an application is to please devote time to becoming crystal clear on your desire to serve by volunteering to support the Way of Mastery Pathway. What is motivating your desire?

As is customary with the Pathway, we invite you to drop in first with breath. Then, ask yourself this Wonder Question:

Do I have some form of attachment to the belief:

“If I give, I must receive at some point in the future?”

This belief and its many cousins (“I need to be acknowledged,” “I want to be liked,” “I need to be told what a great job I’ve done,” “Maybe this way I’ll have access to Jayem,” etc.) can be a subtle way of keeping alive one of ego’s favorite sayings:

I give, in order to get!

This belief is in opposition to a true Heart Calling to be of service through volunteering. With this belief operating, one’s service is charged with the energy of fulfilling egoic desire rather than genuine servantship expressed through the project at hand.

In truth, you’ve already received God’s grace even before becoming conscious of the desire and thought of volunteering… and you’ll continue to receive God’s grace and inspiration as you fulfill your calling to be of service.

So, please, be very honest with yourself about why you’re offering to volunteer. And have fun! Enjoy the process of discovering if there are any sticky little edges of ego attachment hidden in the recesses of your desire to volunteer. Can you give of yourself freely and without condition?
